Bruno and the Blowpipes
Bruno and the Blowpipes
Who will Determine the Future of Sarawak's Penan
A Swiss man,Bruno Manser was spent his five years living with the Penan people, completely adapting his lifestyle to their.Bruno Manser has dissapeared in Borneo and is feared dead. When his ages is 47 he last seen in May 2000 in the isolated village of Bareo in the Malaysian state of Sarawak.Manser is the person that make Penan among the most obscure. He was an environment activist. In Switzerland he was well-known because of his public activism for rainforest preservation and the protection of indigenous peoples. In Sarawak,he protect the semi-nomadic Penan.
Manser known as a provocateur by Malaysian official and they saw him as a fugitive.Even Bruno Manser only an environmental, they called him "enemy of the state number one".Because Manser give support to the Penan to protect their forest.Bruno also ever catch by inspector Lores Matios at Long Napir,Limbang at 1986.But Bruno escape and they cannot catch him.Sarawak's chief minister who is responsible for approving and denying all logging licenses in Sarawak ,had his personal at fortune at stake.
In my opinion,i think Bruno Manser was right to stop the government from developing the jungles of Sarawak and to depend Penan from change.Because our forest will damage or destroy if no peoples want to protect it.

Media
The media should be stopped from giving opinions against the government.Do you agree with this opinion?Give reasons.
Overall,my group is not agree with this opinion. This is because media is the agent for people to gives their opinion. The information in media ether it against government or not, must have a reason why the media give their opinion.Besides that, media such as internet, magazines, newspaper and television, gave more information to people about what government do.
Apart from that,if media stop giving their opinion against government there is no pro and con between government and people.Government also do not know what the people want.Sometimes government not take seriously about what people says because there is no contra from the other sides. When media give their opinion,it will help society.

Gender discrimination
Gender discrimination at Africa
In Africa, women are the victims of violence and discrimination in virtually in all cultures.Gender discrimination have been practiced since the dawn of man.Although some specific religions and tribes have been relegated to a secondary places in society.Gender inequality and gender bias is not technically the same as discrimination. The basic cause of the problem is the degrading cultural attitude that perceives males as superior to females.
A woman who gave birth to female is treated like an outcast not only by other people but by her husband. This negatives traditional attitude manifest in violence against women everywhere. The victims of the violence is women. The case some Africa societies, she is stunted in growth emotionally and psychologically.Such children not allowed to pass through adolescence before they are thrown into marriage.Soon they become child-mothers.They becomes adult before their time.
The other forms of violence against women is sex abuse.Sexual abuse in all its ramifications, females genital mutilation which renders a women incomplete.Apart from being victims of violence, women also suffer gender discrimination in various situation.Almost every Africa culture encourages male child preference. So,early in life,a female child in a typical Africa home is bewildered as she notices that his male siblings are preferred to her.
The conclusion is,women always be the victims of gender discrimination. They treat women like an animal. The people who practiced the gender discrimination much have a awareness. It must be change. This problem must be tackled radically.Government must stop this gender discrimination between men and women and give equal opportunities.Women on their part should vigorously campaign against and try to overcome gender barriers.

Gender and the life cycle
The are five stages of gender and life cycle in the world such as early childhood, the middle years, adolescence, adulthood and old age.In Africa their poverty is very high,so there are a big gap between the people in Africa. The gap also make the gender and the life cycle different for the people in Africa. The different gender and life cycle create the general discrimination between the society of the Africa people.
For early childhood, modern diagnostic tools for pregnancy have made it possible to determine a child's sex in the earliest phase.
Where there is a clear economic or cultural preference for sons, the misuse of these techniques can facilitate female foetal. An unusually high proportion of male births and male children under five in Asia, notably in China and India, suggest sex selective foetal and infanticide in the world's two most populous countries despite intervention to eradicate these practices in both countries.Motherless newborns are between 3 and 10 times more likely to die than newborns whose mothers survive.
For the middle years,a principal focus of the middle years of childhood and adolescence is ensuring access to ,and complete of ,quality primary and secondary education. It is mostly girl who suffer from educational disadvantages. For 100 boys out of school, there are 115 girls in the same situation.Although the gender gap has been closing steadily over the past few decades, nearly 1 out of every 5 girl who enrol in primary school in developing countries does not complete a primary education.Recent estimates indicate that an average of only 43 per cent of girls of the appropriate age in the developing world attend secondary school.
For the adolescence globally, 36 percent of women aged 20-24 were married or in union before they reached their 18th birthday, most commonly in South Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa. It is estimate that more than 130 million women and girls alive today have been subjected to female genital mutilation, cutting. In parts of Africa and the Caribbean, women aged 15-24 are up to six times mores likely to be infected with HIV than young men their age.
For adulthood,it is widely estimated that women make up the majority of the world's poor, comprise nearly two thirds of the people who are illiterate and, along with children, account for 80 per cent of civilian casualties during armed conflict. When women are locked out of decisions regarding household income and other resources , they and their children are more likely to receive less food, and to be denied essential services and education. It is estimated that each year more than half a million women roughly one women every minute dies as a result of pregnancy complications and childbirth some 99 per cent of all maternal deaths occurs in developing countries, with over90 per cent of those in Africa and Asia.
For old age, experience has shown that children rights are advanced when programme that seek to benefit children and families also include elderly women.Elderly women may face double discrimination on the basis of both gender and age. Women tend to live longer than men, may lack control of family resources and faces discrimination from inheritance and property laws. Grandmothers possess a great deal of knowledge and experience related to all aspects of maternal and child health and care.
The conclusion is,the age difference between the people and the society will contribute to worse of the general discrimination. The percentage show that the differences number of men and women also contribute to the general discrimination that is cause no cooperation between man and women.
